Welcome to The Phenomena Podcast with Augusta Chapman! Each episode, Augusta (comedian, writer) and Eva (paranormalist, digital culture enthusiast) talk about ghosts and their role in American culture, media, and sociality -- well, we used to. Now we kind of just talk about any phenomenon, haunted or otherwise, that is fascinating us at the moment. Augusta and Eva (used to) use their background in anthropology to research and discern the meaning and patterns of apparitions, hauntings, and legends; now we use it to analyze all sorts of phenomena.

Hello again! Thanks for having us! I had coronavirus. But we're back now, babyyyy. In the first episode of our new series about witchcraft in America, Augusta and Eva tell the story of the so-called Salem Witch Trials (which really happened in Salem Village, now called Danvers). We talk Puritan names, PTSD, and eating moldy grain.
content warning: listeners may find discussion of war & the genocide of indigenous peoples disturbing
